Another year is almost upon us, who’d have thought 2009 would go so quickly! It’s been a great year in many ways and also a very sad one. We lost the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and screen siren Farrah Fawcett, not to mention the recession reared its ugly head much to everyone’s dismay. But it’s not all doom and gloom. There were plenty of positives that came out of 2009, new births, marriages and other beautiful moments occurred. We just have to look at our customers to know there’s been plenty of wonderful moments this year. Chinese Wish Lanterns were sold to plenty of happy couples to celebrate their big day, and many new parents bought sky lanterns to release in celebration of the birth of their little bundles of joy.
The team here at Chinese Wish Lanterns are celebrating New Years Eve with lots of sky lanterns! Each team member is going to take some home with them and take them along to various parties, so when you see the ball drop in Times Square, keep your eyes peeled for Sky Lanterns!
The “ball dropping” on top of One Times Square in New York City is probably the most famous New Years Eve celebration component. The drop is broadcast to all of America and rebroadcast in many other countries. The glorious Waterford crystal ball is 5,386 kg and 3.7m in diameter and is lowered at 11:59:00pm where it reaches the bottom of its tower at the stroke of midnight for the world to celebrate!
